Goodbye For Now!

Today, I am leaving DC and heading home for an entire month!

First, I wanted to say thank you to everyone for reading my blog this semester! I really enjoyed being able to put all of my memories in one spot and share them with y'all :)

This has been one of the most amazing semesters ever! It's funny because I didn't really like my internship or some of the stuff from The Washington Center, but those bad things don't even compare to all the good things about the semester. I met so many great people and got to explore all of DC!

I can't wait until I come back to DC! I'm sure it will happen one day, since I absolutely love this city :)

Also, I don't know what I will do with the blog for now. If you have any ideas for me, let me know!

Any ideas for the blog? A new focus? I won't be a DC intern anymore :(
THANK YOU!!!!!!

Last Weekend in DC :(

Although I'm beyond ready to go home, I am a little sad that this was my last weekend in DC. But it was a fun weekend! On Saturday morning, I went to Roosevelt Island and on Saturday night, we went to the zoo!

The National Zoo has this thing called Zoo Lights, where the whole place is lit up and you can walk through the zoo at night.

There were different animals made of lights, like monkeys, bears, elephants, stingrays, octopus, and more.

We also got to go in the farm house and see some real animals- we saw donkeys, llamas, and cows.

Zoo Lights was amazing! It was super busy, but definitely worth it.

On Sunday, I returned to Face the Nation! I started my semester there and ended it there too. The show was great and I love sitting in the control room. Going to Face the Nation was one of the coolest experiences I had in DC.

Afterwards, we even got to have brunch with Bob and Pat! I had a wonderful time and I am so thankful that I got to meet and spend time with them this semester.

What did you do this weekend?
Have you ever been on the set of a TV show? Which one?

Roosevelt Island!

On Saturday morning, I went to Roosevelt Island for a run- I know, I'm probably one of the few people who makes a list of places I want to run in cities I visit haha.

Roosevelt Island is between Rosslyn and Georgetown, so I had to run from the Rosslyn metro, along the highway, and across this bridge to get to the island.

But it was totally worth it! I loved running on the trails and along the small bridges through the marsh.

I had run around the island once when I finally ran into Teddy! And there were lots of good quotes on the stones around him. I'm not sure if you can read them all clearly, but my favorite is on the Youth stone.

"Keep your eyes on the stars, but remember to keep your feet on the ground."

The island isn't very big, so I ran around 3 times and then made my way back through Georgetown to the metro. It was a fun morning and I completed one more thing on my bucket list before I leave!

What is your favorite quote?

A Christmas Carol

Last week, my roommate and I went to Ford's Theatre to see A Christmas Carol after work one day. We had been wanting to see a play and tickets weren't badly priced for this one, so it was perfect!

Our seats were up in the balcony, but we could see pretty well! I knew the theater was small, but it was even smaller than I thought- at the beginning of the play, the actors were walking around the theater and talking to people in the audience. One was talking to the girl sitting in front of me and was asking her if she wanted to buy flowers.

The sets looked great too! You can see the bridge in the center of the photo- it was nice that it added height to the stage because people would go up the spiral staircases on the side and walk across the bridge.

And there was Lincoln's seat! We didn't get to see the museum, but it was amazing to see a play in the theater.

Have you seen any Christmas plays yet this holiday season?
What is your favorite holiday play?

10 Minute Tour of DC

Yesterday, I went to the Botanic Gardens to see the Christmas train and flowers! I have a lot of pictures, but I couldn't help myself :) Basically, everything you see is made of some sort of plants, even the train tracks and replicas of everything in DC.

Library of Congress
Capitol
Botanic Garden
Washington Monument
American Indian Museum

Smithsonian Castle
Jefferson Memorial
Lincoln Memorial
White House

And we shall end with a picture of the Capitol! The flowers were a lot different than the last time I went- almost everything outside was dead, except the few roses that I took pictures of. But everything was so beautiful, so I hope you enjoyed the pictures :)

Have you ever been to a botanic garden?
How did you spend your Sunday?
