TCU Tree Lighting

40 foot tree in the TCU Commons! Officially lit up tonight at the tree lighting ceremony!

The Tree Lighting Ceremony is always such a great time. People even come by and bring their families. There were a bunch of little kids.

This year was a lot different from last year though. There was an actual band. Well this guy singing jazzy Christmas music with instrumentalists behind him. The two reindeer were not in cages, so we could pet them and take pictures this year! Santa was here, but not with Mrs.Clause. And not in purple outfits. It seems so weird to see Santa in red at TCU.

And there were fireworks at the end!

Overall, it was great! I thought last year was more of a big event that fostered a community feeling, but this year was wonderful too! Who wouldn't be in the Christmas spirit after that?

Pumpkin

It's so weird how our tastes change as we get older!

I used to hate pumpkin when I was little. My mom would make pumpkin pies and I wouldn't go near them. They looked gross and I didn't like the texture.

But now I love pumpkin! Seriously, when I was home this past weekend for break, my mom and I had so much pumpkin stuff!

The second I got off of the plane, we went to The Good Egg for breakfast and split mini pumpkin pecan pancakes with a spiced cream cheese frosting. So yummy! More like dessert, but wonderful nonetheless.

These aren't the actual pancakes, but they look really similar to this!

Then, when we got home, we made all of our Thanksgiving desserts, including pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread.

We finished the pumpkin bread while I was home, so we made even more before I left so I could bring some to school with me!

We looked up even more pumpkin recipes too, but didn't make them all. My friend made pumpkin biscotti, which sounds really interesting! Pumpkin cheesecake also looked good! And pumpkin blondie brownies.

Can you ever get too much pumpkin? I don't think so. Funny how I went from only liking pumpkins to make Jack-o-lanterns to eating as much pumpkin as possible.

yay!

I focused in my last class!

Still thinking about that thing, but not as much!

Now to do some homework and relax before the TCU Tree Lighting tonight and my playoff soccer game!

Woo Hoo! Let's go!

Worst thing ever

You know what the worst thing is? Thinking about something when you don't want to think about it!

I know that's definitely not the worst thing in the world, but it's the worst thing when you're in class! All during my class this morning, when I should have been thinking about Karl Marx and the Communist Manifesto, I was thinking about something else.

And even though I kept telling myself to focus and pay attention, it didn't work. I would pay attention for two minutes and then go back to zoning out.

Hopefully my next class goes better and I will focus. Wish me luck!

Marilyn Musing

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change
so that you can learn to let go. Things go wrong so that you
appreciate them when they’re right. You believe lies so you
eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes
good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”
Marilyn Monroe

Definitely feeling just like this quote explains. Something good ended in my life recently and I'm having a tough time getting over it. It's hard to move on from something when it was such a good thing. But maybe that happened so that something better can happen to me soon.

At least that's what I'm hoping for.

Words I Couldn't Say

I had this song stuck in my head all weekend. It's sad, but it's also beautiful.

Why not?

That quote reminded me of this song for some weird reason. But I pressed publish before I could stop myself!

So here is the song. You might think it's lame, but don't judge!

I think the part where she says "Walk a little slower and open up your eyes, sometimes it's so hard to see the good things passing by" made me connect this song with that quote. It might not make entire sense, but I think those words are sort of that same!

Ronald Dahl says to pay attention to the magic around you. And Hilary Duff says that you might miss out on all of the good stuff around you. And both are true! The good things and magic might be the same. But basically, just make sure you aren't missing everything around you because you are too focused on something.

You might miss some amazing things if you forget to look for them.

Do you believe in magic?

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world

around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in

the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will

 never find it.”

― Roald Dahl

Back from Break!

Sorry it's been so long y'all! I left early Wednesday morning for the DFW Airport to catch my flight back home. And I didn't bring my laptop. I figured it was only a few days and it's too heavy to carry around if I don't need it. Plus I thought I could use the computer at home, until I realized how slow the internet is there.

So no blogs for a while. But I'm back now! And I promise I'll blog during winter break! School break does not equal blogging break.

Anyways, my Thanksgiving Break was awesome! It was nice to spend time with friends and family.

On Wednesday, I just hung out with my mom after she picked me up from the airport. We had a huge baking party! We made all of our pies, breads, and other desserts. Yummy!

That night, we had a bunch of family friends over for dinner, which was a lot of fun. Then I went running and played soccer to burn off some of those calories. I tend to eat a lot when I get home-cooking.

On Thanksgiving morning, my family and I ran the Turkey Trot. We do this every year and it's awesome! There are mud puddles to run through and hay bales to jump over. I got a time of 27:10. Not very good compared to how I used to run, but I was still happy! I came in the top 200!

Thanksgiving Day was pretty quiet. And so was the rest of the weekend. Just relaxed and spent time with people. No Black Friday shopping for my family this year. We did some online shopping (I bought something, I'll tell you about it later!), but no in store shopping. Too crazy and we didn't need anything!

The weekend went by way to fast, but only 8 more days of classes, including today. Then 2 study days, and the week of finals. 3 weeks until another break! Time to get down and dirty with the studying.

Hope y'all had wonderful weekends too!

I came to win

I love this song! I think it's one of the better songs that Rihanna has sang recently. And I just think Nicki Minaj is awesome. No doubt about that.

Good message in the chorus and I like the combination of their voices rapping and singing. Listen to it!

And watch the video too! I like Rihanna's hair better straight like this. She looks so pretty! What do you think?

Blahhhh

This week has been so pointless! My classes were either cancelled or really easy, so I should have gone home early. Today I have one joke class and my flight isn't until morning. So I am basically sitting around doing nothing all day.

Yesterday was the same way and I worked out all day. But today I am way too sore to do that. I already did a  2 mile run/walk this morning and that hurt. I'll probably go to the Rec to waste some more time later.

But other than that, I don't know what to do! I've watched all of my shows on Hulu, done my homework, and cleaned. I just need to pack, but I'll do that later. Why didn't I book an earlier flight?!

Oh yeah, it was my Tuesday night prof. Who said we had a mandatory quiz. That couldn't be made up. And now she cancelled class. Thanks. Thanks a lot.

I'm not happy about this, in case you can't tell.

Fairytale

It's hard to let go of your fairy tales entirely cause almost everyone has that smallest bit of

and faith, that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.

-Meredith Grey, Grey's Anatomy

Yesterday, I went running and listened to the song "Today was a Fairy tale" by Taylor Swift over and over again. It's such a cute song!

Yes, we all have our ideas of our personal fairy tales. Mine is not living in a castle with servants and a prince charming. But I would like some sort of prince charming. And my dream job. And to get married one day. And mostly just to be happy.

Is that so much to ask for? I don't think so. I just need to keep that small hope alive and make sure that I recognize when my fairy tale comes true.

Uh oh...

One of my classes in the middle of the day was cancelled, so I decided to go an exercise class called Tone 'N Tighten, or TNT.

I got to the Rec early, so I did a quick workout on the eliptical, which was more intense than I thought it would be. So I was a little tired going into the class anyways.

About 15 minutes into the class, I went to do a dead lift and felt my hamstrings get really tight, with a sharp pain. I made it through the rest of the class, but mainly because it was all arms, abs, and back after that.

I think I might have pulled my muscles, but I hope I didn't! I'm running in a race on Thanksgiving and I wanted to run it well!

I'll ice for now and see what happens. Wish me luck!

A good quote always helps. I swear!

Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
-Dr. Seuss

Once again, I'm going through some tough relationship times. Is this what college is really about? Because I know it's supposed to be about learning, but it seems like people are always having relationship problems.

There are those with long distance problems. Cheating. Lying. Becoming different people, whether that be through changing friends or becoming more mature. Growing apart. Not knowing if someone likes. Knowing that someone likes you and you don't like them. Hooking up scandals. Seeing them around campus when you don't want to. Or not seeing them when you want to.

The problems are endless. Why isn't life like a romantic comedy?! Why can't all girls find the perfect guy who is a true gentleman and really romantic?

Maybe because that would make life too easy. Nobody would learn anything. People wouldn't appreciate when good things happen.

So my quote is this Dr. Seuss quote. Most people have the instinct to cry when something is over. But think about it- you learned something from this, got the experience, and you can move on. So smile. Know that you are strong and that good will come from anything.

Because if we don't believe that good comes from everything, why do we even try?

Nostalgia

Is it possible to have nostalgia about something that happened a few months ago?

I think it might be possible! I just looked back over all of my blog posts and it reminded me of so much that has happened this semester. It makes me miss those good times and reminds me of those few bad times.

But I was looking through it to find all of the quotes that I write down. I used to keep journals, but I was really bad about doing that every day. And I always would throw them away after I finished one because I don't want people to ever read them.

Blogging has become my online diary though. I still journal sometimes, but not in the same way. Now my journals are filled with quotes and stories. I love quotes because I feel like no matter what you are going through, someone has gone through it before and has some sort of advice.

So I was looking through my blog so I could find all of the quotes and write them down in my journal. It's easier to reread them there instead of looking through all of my blog posts.

Anyways, do y'all ever get nostalgic about things that happened fairly recently?

I live in the dark ages

I love letter writing! Seriously!

I write letters to people all the time. The only problem is that they never write back to me...

Sad face.

Is letter writing a thing of the past? I mean, now that the Postal Service is going bankrupt and everyone just texts, letters are obsolete. Nobody even writes email letters anymore! Facebook and texting have ruined the world of communication. As in, I like letter writing and talking on the phone.

Since when am I so old-fashioned? Normally I love Facebook and texting too because it has changed how we communicate! I think it's fascinating!

But today I'm just a little upset that I never get mail. I am pen pals with two elementary school kids too, who are supposed to write letters in class as a way to better their writing. And one of them didn't write back to me. People don't even write back to me when they are forced to! How sad is that?

Last post for today, I promise!

I know, I know. Some days I post like a crazy lady and others I don't post at all. Today I am a crazy lady apparently.

But I'm reading for my political theory class and I came across this interesting idea that I wanted to share.

"Happiness comes not from pursuing pleasure for itself but as an indirect consequence of pursuing some other aim. Pleasure pursued directly can give only a superficial happiness; striving for meaningful ends is inherently more pleasurable."

This is an idea of John Stuart Mill, a political ideologist. Interesting, huh?

Want to go to space?

Then apply to NASA! They are so desperate for more astronauts that they put something online about applications. If I was majoring in something engineering, science or math, I would totally do it.

Well, I say that now. But it would probably scare the bejeezus out of me and I'd cry. It sounds cool though!

How awesome would it be to say that I was an astronaut? I think I could make it through the physical tests, but I'm not much of a math and science geek, so that could be a problem. And I'm a picky eater.

Does this interest you? What is your crazy dream job?

Tis the season of joy

Tuition Increases Suck. Just being honest.

This morning, I got an email from TCU's Chancellor saying that tuition will increase by 6.5 percent this year, after an 8% increase from last year. Here's the email:

Dear TCU Family:

Now more than ever, our nation and world need well-educated, ethical leaders and critical thinkers — the individuals who can solve today’s problems and respond to coming challenges we cannot even imagine.  At Texas Christian University, we are equipping your student to take on these roles.
In our current environment, adaptability is key, both for our graduates and the University. We continue to innovate, improve the quality of a TCU education and boost the value of a TCU degree.
When you entrusted us to educate your student, you issued a mandate that we make every effort to provide an unparalleled university experience. This requires ongoing, targeted investments, including hiring new faculty, increasing financial aid and upgrading facilities, technology and academic programs. Student services also have been strengthened, with new staff positions in Career Services, the Health and Counseling Center, Campus Life and Academic Support.
Consequently, our Trustees last week voted to increase tuition for full-time undergraduates by 6.5 percent to $34,500 for the 2012-2013 academic year*.  Overall financial aid also will increase by 6.5 percent.
Keeping TCU accessible is among our highest priorities.  We know the lagging economy is impacting many TCU families, and we have strengthened our focus on scholarships and financial aid.  Over five years, we have increased overall undergraduate financial aid by some 60 percent to $78.5 million. Through The Campaign for TCU we are committed to raising $100 million for scholarships by May 2012, and about $90 million already has been contributed toward this total.
To learn more about scholarships and other financial aid available at TCU, please visit our website at www.financialaid.tcu.edu, or call 817-257-7858 (Tarrant County) or 1-800-TCU-FROG (outside of Tarrant County) or contact us by email at financialaid@tcu.edu.
For our students and families, employability is a critical issue. We have made major investments in TCU Career Services, including four new staff members this year, bringing the total to 18, as well as space to conduct practice interviews and increase contacts with employers — a total of more than 1,000 with more than 300 recruiting on campus during fall semester alone.
We are ever mindful of your investment in your student’s education and are committed to providing a world-class, values-centered university experience.  Please contact me should you have any concerns.

Sincerely yours,

Victor J. Boschini, Jr., Chancellor

*Part-time undergraduate students taking between 1-8 hours will pay $1,200 per hour; those taking between 9-11 hours will pay $1,455 per hour.

Now #OccupySadler is trending on Twitter with TCU students. We don't want to pay more! We are paying as much as Ivy League schools.

I basically feel like I'm paying for the name of TCU now instead of the education. I liked going to a lesser known school with great academics. Now we are a big name because of our football team, everyone wants to go here, and tuition is increasing.

I guess you can't have it both ways. Or have your cake and eat it too. Whatever phrase you like more.

Trinity Park

This morning, I woke up and drove to Trinity Park for a quick run.

Trinity Park is a park sponsored by Fort Worth that runs basically throughout the Metroplex. Their are endless miles of trails that feel completely safe.

And it runs along the Trinity River, which is simply beautiful.

It's not that far away from my school, so I usually run there. But seeing as I can only run for about an hour at the longest right now, I have to turn around once I get a mile into the park.

So this morning I drove there so I could start my run in the park and explore more! It was such a good idea. I got to run with the sun rising in beautiful weather, towards downtown. Watching the river and hearing the wind made for the perfect background noise, considering my iPod was dead.

When I hit the turn around point, I was hoping that I would at least have ran 30 minutes total by the time I got back to my car. But I didn't think that was likely. Much to my surprise, when I got back to my car, I had been running for about 50 minutes! Yay for long runs that don't feel like long runs!

It was a beautiful morning and I wish I had time to do that every day. Needless to say, I will start going there more often! And next time, I'll take pictures so I can show y'all.

Blog your way to a better career?

Yes. You did just read that title correctly.

I was taken by surprise too. The blog that I started in college may get me a better career someday? Awesome!

I enjoy blogging and if someone really wants to give me a job because they like my ideas or writing, that would be amazing!

So check out this article from CNN to see how blogging helps your professional life.

Although, I think it helps my emotional and mental life too. It's nice to have somewhere to write down my thoughts and share quotes/news with people who might be interested.

Just reminding you (as in anyone who reads my blog), I appreciate y'all! Thanks! :)

Whoa!

If you haven't checked out Google Gravity yet, go do it!

Just type in Google Gravity in the Google search box, pick I'm feeling lucky, then hit enter. Then type in things on the search bar and see them fall down the screen. It's so cool!!

Too early? Yes? No?

So I've been hearing a lot of arguments lately about whether Christmas starts too early. I love Christmas. I love the decorations, the spirit, and the cookies! My sister and I bake constantly during the holiday season.

But I do agree that Thanksgiving gets the short end of the stick. After Halloween decorations leave the store, Christmas decorations are out. I went to the Dollar Store a few days before Halloween to buy more candy and the Halloween stuff was already taken down! Christmas stuff filled the whole store!

I can't be hypocritical there. I work at the store where Christmas starts in July. At Hallmark, our first phase of Ornament Premiere is at the beginning of July and there is a phase basically each month.

So on the one side, I love Christmas stuff. And as part of my job, I have to love it. But on the other hand, I wish that people would remember Thanksgiving. It's such a great holiday and it's one of my favorite to celebrate with my family and friends.

What do y'all think?

Front page of Sports        Numbers from game          Casey Pachall

These are some pictures from the Star-Telegram today about TCU's game yesterday.

Unfortunately, TCU might not be ranked yet, but Boise will definitely fall in the rankings. That site said that Boise might fall to 9 and their whole season was ruined because of yesterdays game. Now they aren't going to be the Mountain West Champions.

Some other football news, but unfortunately it's bad news... Penn State lost. I feel really bad for the team and the students at that school. I can't imagine going through that scandal. But the fact that they went out there and still played the game is great.

And ASU lost to Washington State. They had been doing so well this season! What a shame.

Auburn lost too. It's amazing how much the BCS rankings change from year to year when big schools lose a bunch of seniors. Last year, Auburn and TCU were at the top, and now Auburn is 20 and TCU isn't ranked.

Baylor won. Boo Baylor. Nobody likes Waco.

Now for some good quotes from the TCU/Boise game:
"We didn't shock the world, we just reminded them." Tank Carder
"TCU has a good team. Don't let two losses fool you. Those guys are good. Our guys know it. We knew it going in." Boise State coach Chris Peterson

Fun fact, in case you didn't know. Gary Patterson coached Chris Peterson in college. Now they are competing. Cool, huh?

Create Yourself

I know a lot people use the phrase "I need to find myself" or "I need to figure out who I really am." But I think that deep down, you already know who you are. By saying that you need to find yourself, it's as if you have absolutely no idea who you are. And everyone knows who they are. They may not know that they know, but they do. So just live your life being who you want to be and create the perfect you.

Happy Sunday!

GO FROGS!!

Just in case you didn't see, the Horned Frogs won.

Such an intense game!! You missed out if you didn't watch it!

Extremely proud of my school right now.

And Casey Pachall has come so far this season! Good job!

GO FROGS!!

Quit talking and begin doing

Awesome quote! And I know the picture is of a runner, but this totally doesn't have to apply to just working out. Anytime that you are feeling lazy and procrastinating, just remember that the only way to get something done is to stop talking about how you need to get it done.

I always do stuff like that. I say how much work I have to do and how I am procrastinating. But if I just stopped talking about it and actually did what I needed to do, then it would probably already be done!

That's my motivation for today. I planned to wake up early and run, but instead I decided to wake up early and get my to-do list done. Exercising always seems to come before my to-do list, but today I'm switching it around.

News for today: If you haven't seen anything about the Penn State Scandal yet, then you must be living under a rock. This has been everywhere! Look it up! Read this article too! Penn State is having their first football game in 46 years without Joe Paterno. It's really a sad situation, but it shows how college sports have become so important that anyone involved is protected. They can do something horrible, but the people who know would rather keep that person on the team or as a coach then turn them into the police. Extremely sad.

What do y'all think of the situation? Are you on the side that thinks it was unfair to fire Joe Paterno? Or do you think that was the right thing to do?

Trying to be positive

If you haven't already realized this, I am not a fan of winter. I hate the cold weather and think the only reason it should be cold is if it's snowing.

But I need to be a little more positive about the cold weather. I am going to be living in it for a while.

So here are some of my favorite things about the cold weather.

1. Tea
I love drinking tea when it's cold out! Celestial Seasonings has so many good flavors and there are quotes on the boxes. I'm a sucker for good quotes.

2. Cocomotion
This machine is awesome! Just put all the ingredients for hot cocoa in here and it's mixes/heats it all up for you. Genius invention. My family loves using this.

3. Warm blankets
Curling up in a blanket is so comforting. I have a purple blanket that I use all the time and I will probably never get rid of it.

4. Movie days
Nobody wants to go outside on those really cold days. That's when I just watch movies all day. It's very relaxing.

5. Purple boots
So comfy. Need I say more?

I think that's good for now. I'll let you know more things when I think of them. What do y'all like about cold weather?

Oh the weather outside is frightful

I know that is the lead to a winter/holiday song, but that is how I felt this morning! My plan was to wake up early and go running.

I've been a little bored with my running routine lately, so I thought switching it up would help. Waking up in the morning and being the only one out running while the sun was rising sounded wonderful to me.

But even though I've been complaining about the cold weather so much lately, it didn't occur to me that it would be freezing out! I stepped outside in shorts and a long sleeve shirt- I couldn't believe how bitter cold it was. I could see my breath and my throat immediately starting burning when I took in the cold air.

I made it through the whole run though! Needless to say, I cut it short, but at least I ran the whole time. Two times was about all I could make it through. I'll need to find ways to prevent that burning throat feeling.

Do y'all have ideas about how to prevent that?

A plus about running in the cold- my legs felt great! I wasn't sore at all once I got outside. It's like being in an ice bath without actually being in one!

Honky Tonk Confidential

Today in class we learned about Bob Schieffer. Our journalism school is named after him and he can be seen roaming the halls sometimes.

But one thing that my professor told us that I didn't know was that he's a musician too! He writes his own lyrics and performs with the band Honky Tonk Confidential.

This video is really funny; it's called TV Anchorman. Check it out!

My professor calls this his alter ego because he is so much different than he is normally!

Born to Run

Don't make fun of me, but I just recently figured out what this whole subscription thing on Facebook was. I figured that technically I was subscribed to anyone that I'm friends with. But then I realized that it's almost like Twitter! I can subscribe to companies or famous people or anyone to see what they say... and I don't have to be friends with them to do it.

Like I said, I'm a little slow with this technology stuff sometimes. But I've come a LOOOOONG way in this past year.

Anyways, I started following this page called Born to Run. I will admit that some days, I just don't have any motivation to run. I'm not on a team, I'm not training for anything specific, and I don't have a lot of friends who like to run here. So when I found this page, I decided to follow it.

Every day, it has great quotes a pictures that are very inspiring to runners. And every day I want to put the quotes on here because they are so wonderful! But I'll try not to do that. If you like some of the quotes that I post from them on here, then I suggest that you follow them too!

Here is one from the other day:

When you have worn out your shoes, the strength of the shoe leather has passed into the fiber of your body. I measure your health by the number of shoes and hats and clothes you have worn out. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Such a cool idea! Really makes me think about exactly how many pairs of running shoes I have gone through.

What do y'all think of the quote?

Vote Today!

Today was Election Day for TCU Student Body! It's very exciting for me because I'm in House of Representatives and Elections & Regulations Committee.

Basically all day I've been yelling at people to vote. I'm not campaigning for anyone, I just want people to vote in general.

It makes me sad when people are apathetic and deny themselves the right to vote. We are in a democratic society where we get this amazing opportunity to choose who represents and leads us! Why don't people take advantage of that opportunity?

Also, when those same apathetic people complain about their leaders, I think it's just wrong. They lost their right to complain when they chose not to vote. By not voting, you are saying that you don't care and will be fine with whoever is in power. If you care, then show you care by voting!

Anyways, that's my rant for today. And speaking of voting, here are two great news articles!

Arizona Senator loses recall election

TCU Student Body Elections

This second story made national news! Although it's not the greatest publicity for the school and the whole thing got blown out of proportion, it's awesome that some small university election made it onto a national station.

It's just politics

For part of my position as representative in the TCU House of Student Representatives, I must be part of a committee outside of House. My committee is Elections and Regulations, which I love! It's awesome to be the group with the final say in almost everything.

But during election season, it is so stressful! If the races are contested, we have so many fines and complaints and problems to deal with. Today we had an hour and a half long meeting to deal with all of this stuff.

Something that surprised me during the meeting was that somebody said they hated all of the politics/didn't like that we were acting like politicians. But isn't that what we are? Technically, this is politics on a smaller scale. Yes, there will be people choosing sides on campaigns and endorsing others.

Isn't that the whole point?

But unfortunately, politics have gotten a bad name lately. Politics don't have to be bad! They can make things better if used correctly!

What do y'all think?

Earthquake!!

You can go to this site to find out where people are feeling the earthquake!

It just happened in Oklahoma, but people from all over felt it. My bed started shaking and I got really scared for a minute, but I didn't think it was an earthquake at first. I thought someone/something was shaking my bed.

Then when I heard that other people felt it, we all started to figure out that it was an earthquake. Scary stuff!

Did anyone feel it?

NASCAR

Last night, I volunteered at Texas Motor Speedway for APO. We work at a concession stand there all weekend and that's how we fund raise.

Basically, we work for free and get 10% of what we sell. Plus we can ask people for donations and we get to keep all of that. I was the MVP yesterday and got $28 in donations :)

But it was so much fun! I have never been to NASCAR before and it was exactly what I expected. But funnier.

People walk in in bright jackets and crazy outfits, with huge coolers full of beer. And they are allowed in with all of that! It's crazy!

And the people were so typical Texans. It was really lovely. (Totally not being sarcastic there, I really do love it!)

I feel like a real Texan now! I didn't watch the race at all, but I talked to a bunch of people, sold beer and gross food all night, and had fun!

Ironic part though- a bunch of the race cars are sponsored by alcohol companies... Don't drink and drive though folks :)

Geez Louise

This morning I went to a yogalates class because my first class of the day was cancelled. I was hoping it'd be more like yoga because I wanted a relaxing workout, but it was hard! I was actually sweating during the class.

I never realized how weak my muscles are. I was having a hard time even keeping my legs straight and completing every move.

We did a lot of typical yoga moves, like warrior, cobra, downward dog, sun salutations, and more. But it was fast paced and we did a lot of strengthening moves too.

The ab workout was so hard, but I made it through! I modified some of the moves (my legs were too sore to keep them straight all the time), but it was a great workout.

I'm not sure if I'll go back, it's not really my thing. If I want a sort of relaxing workout, then I'm going to go full-on relaxing with yoga. If I want a full workout, I'd rather sweat it out like crazy.

DC!

So I think I will be spending next fall semester in Washington DC!!!

I applied for an internship there and I got it! But I need to decide which one of my schools I want to go for (political science or journalism) and if I can afford it.

But this would be the most exciting experience in my life! Spending a semester in DC during an election? I'm pretty sure nothing beats this.

My heart's a stereo

This is my quote for the day! I love this song- the chorus is so sweet and Adam Levine has an amazing voice. Stereo Hearts always gets stuck in my head.

And I'm not gonna lie... I had a mini dance party in my room when the song came on Pandora this morning. Don't judge me.

Hello November

November is a time to say what you are thankful for, so here goes!

I am thankful for:
1. My beautiful school.

2. My family

3. Free newspapers at school every day haha.

4. My boyfriend.

5. My friends.

6. Coffee and tea.

7. Running.

8. My classes and my major.

9. APO.

10. All my fun activities at school.

And there is so much more!

What are y'all thankful for?

I really do apologize

I am getting really bad about blogging on the weekends and I'm sorry! I will become better, I promise.

This was Halloweekend! Basically, party, party, party all weekend for college kids.

On Friday night I went to the TCU v BYU football game at Cowboys Stadium. It was a great game and the Horned Frogs won, of course! Cowboys Stadium was huge and I couldn't believe how big the jumbotron was.

Pictures really don't do it justice. I found myself watching the screen instead of the actual game multiple times, even though I was only 15 rows away from the field.

On Saturday night I did typically Halloween stuff, like dressing up and going out with friends. I had a blast, even though my costume was the same as half of the other girls (I was an 80's girl).

But 80's girl is a really easy costume to do if you don't have a costume! Just need some leggings, a baggy shirts, bright make-up, and a side pony.

Sunday was study, study, study. But yesterday was Halloween and I watched Hocus Pocus will some girls from my dorm. I love that movie and must watch it every year.

By dog is named after the black cat in the movie, Zacahary Binx. And last night I realized that we should have named our little girl dog Emily, after the sister of Zachary Binx in the movie!

These are my dogs in the suitcase. That sounds cruel, but they really just wanted to go on my trip with me! Zachary is on the left and Daisy is on the right. It's a little too late to change her name now, I think she would get confused.

How was y'all's Halloweekend? And traditions? Or fun activities?
